Notes from August

While avoiding being blasted by 98% humidity and 99 degree days, here’s what we were reading this month.

A viable and cheap alternative to DEET? Hallelujah!

Check out the native garden at Kelly Norris and David McKinney’s home (and in BHG magazine, no less! The native plant movement is gaining traction!).

Don’t know what to do with that area between the sidewalk and the road? This might help. (Note: for those of us with a Chattanooga or Red Bank ditch instead of a sidewalk, keep in mind that the city may have the right to chop it all back).

And finally, a reminder that a beautiful native garden won’t happen overnight, but the results are well worth the wait: a landscape architect’s own garden progress.
