We’re 100% volunteer-run, which means you make everything happen.
Native plant expert? Great. Total beginner? Even better.
Get your hands in the dirt, chat plants with neighbors, or work behind the scenes. Come as you are – your enthusiasm matters more than expertise.

Q&A about Volunteering
Question: I hardly know anything about native plants but I want to help. What can I do?
Answer: No worries, we love your willingness to help and learn! If you are looking for something that doesn’t rely on native plant knowledge, you can:
- be a greeter and help folks sign-in at one of our monthly programs
- set up before events or help clean up after (like for our New Member Social each fall, or for our twice-yearly Plant Sales)
- staff the information booth at community events (see below!)
Question: What do I need to know to volunteer at the information booth?
Answer: Nothing! At local events and festivals, our booth comes stocked with pamphlets, posters, and handouts. You’ll be paired with another volunteer, so you’re never solo. Chat with event attendees, share your enthusiasm for what you are learning, and point them toward the resources at the table. If someone asks a question you can’t answer, just say, “Great question – let me grab one of our plant nerds!”
Question: Is there a time requirement for volunteering?
Answer: Many of our shifts are only 1 – 2 hours. If you are a greeter at a program, you sign folks in and then get to listen to the program along with everyone else. If you are helping at a festival or expo, those shifts are typically 2 to 3 hours and you are paired with another member. You are welcome to take breaks and wander the event space yourself!
Question: Can I volunteer if I can only help occasionally?
Answer: Absolutely! We have a running list of volunteer opportunities. Help when it works for your schedule: no pressure, no guilt.
Question: What if I want to get more involved?
Answer: We’d love that! Beyond event volunteering, you can join a committee, join our board, use your garden for our Landscapes in Progress program, or propose a program idea. Just let us know what interests you.
