What a wild ride it has been! Here’s a sampling of what our members found interesting this month.

Native plant enthusiasts love a “plant this, not that” list and now there’s a book! Listen to the author and Margaret Roach discuss some highlights on the A Way to Garden podcast.

A whopping 430,000 birds crossed Hamilton County, just last night! How to follow the spring migration of our birds on BirdCast.

Did you know that some prey creatures use electric fields to detect predators?

“Maintenance isn’t just about how much work is required. It’s about when that work happens, who can do it, and what kinds of knowledge and tools it depends on.” Rachel Lindsay shows us what 8 years of hell strip maintenance looks like and discusses what we actually mean when we say “low maintenance”.

And finally, the NC State Extension conducted a study to determine just how many nesting bees were found in various perennial stems, depending on length and when they were cut. You may want to rethink when to trim your stems! There’s also a great list of perennials which bees like to use for nesting.
